Pink Makeup Look/Walkthrough ūüĆļ

Hello Beauties! I was going to say that spring is around the corner so we should all get excited and crack out every piece of pastel clothing and makeup we can find, but with this miserable weather in the UK it couldn’t feel any further away.. nonetheless, let’s get in the mood with this cute pink makeup look that you can all rock when the spring season finally decides to come around! This bright liner and lipstick combo is all I’ll be wearing for the spring/summer, so let’s dive in and see how it’s achieved! I’ll list a full description of products used at the end of this blog post and where you can purchase them!

The first step of my makeup routine is skincare, if you don’t have a good skin base to work with then you’re not going to be able to fully achieve the look that you want to get out of your makeup. Because of this, I always start with a few pumps of Bare Minerals ‘Skinlongevity’ serum. This serum is perfect as it is made for all skin types and works to protect the skin against environmental stressors as it’s packed full of antioxidants. It’s powered by long life herb so is constantly working to help the skin look and feel young and healthy. I take a few pumps into the palm of my hand an gently press it into the face, immediately you can feel the hydration on your skin and you’re all prepped to start your routine.

First things first, primer! To go with my skincare I use the Bare Minerals ‘Good Hydrations’ primer, can you tell my skin’s a little dry at the moment? This primer is perfect because it preps my skin by smoothing out any pores thanks to the coconut alkanes therefore giving me a great base which allows my foundation to glide on flawlessly (you can find my review on both the new primers launched here!) If you’ve been following my blog for a while you’ll know my all time favourite foundation is the Illamasqua ‘Skin Base’, this formula is so easy to apply and so flawless looking (due to it being quite full coverage) so it’s my absolute go-to when it comes to my base (you can find my full review here!) After applying my foundation with my favourite Marc Jacobs ‘The Face II Sculpting’ brush, I like to go in with the Benefit Cosmetics ‘Boi-ing’ concealer under the eyes. I use my ring finger, as this is the most delicate and gentle, to place the concealer carefully under my eyes, in the centre of my forehead and chin and then over any imperfections that might be invading my face that day. Once these steps are done, I set my base with the loose powder from Rimmel, it’s a drug-store brand so people who like more high-end makeup tend to stay away from brands like this, but this is honestly the best loose setting powder I have come across. It is very finely milled and still gives the skin the flawless look that I am trying to achieve.

So now our base is done, we move onto eyes! I fill in (and basically reshape) my eyebrows first with the Benefit ‘Precisely My Brow’ pencil and then with the ‘Brow Zings’ wax and powder. Once my brows are on and looking pretty much the same (they’re sisters, not twins!) I prime my eyelids with the Mac Cosmetics ‘paint pot’ in soft ochre. I then set this with the loose powder from before. For this pink look, I decided the Sigma Beauty ‘Creme de Couture’ palette would be perfect as it’s a gorgeous selection of, very pigmented, bright matte colours. First I look the shade cherry blossom on a big fluffy blender brush and blended this through the crease, taking it slightly above the crease but not all the way to the brow bone. I then look the shade redberry rose and did the same, however not bringing it up as far as I did the first shade in order to give an effortlessly blended effect. I then took redberry rose down onto the outer corner of the lid and blended it towards the centre of the lid. After this, I took my paint pot and half cut my crease, making sure to blend it out at the centre into the redberry rose shade for an easier blend later on. I next grabbed my Too Faced ‘sweet peach’ eyeshadow palette and selected the shade bellini to go over where I had cut the crease, I used a packer eyeshadow brush to pop this onto where I cut the crease and blended it into the redberry rose colour already there. I then grabbed by Jeffree Star Cosmetics liquid lipstick in the shade ‘Masochist’ and used a liner brush to create a bright pink winged liner. If you’re going to do the same and use a pink lipstick then please make sure to double check it is eye safe before applying it near the eye area. And there we go, eye makeup complete!

After the eye makeup is complete I go back in and finish my base by enhancing what’s already there with a bit of colour. I went straight for my trusty Juvia’s Place blush palette and added some colour to the apples of my cheeks. I then took the Bare Minerals ‘warmth’ all over face colour to warm up my complexion, blending this into my forehead, cheekbones, jawline and then using whatever is left on the brush to buff into the rest of my foundation to slightly warm up the face all over. I then took my favourite highlighting palette by Huda Beauty the ‘pink sands edition’ and made those cheekbones blinding!

Lastly, onto my two favourite L’s.. lippy and lashes! I used the Eyelure lashes in No.126 to really make the eye makeup standout. No surprises here, the lipstick is a combo of Jeffree Star Cosmetics ‘Masochist’ and ‘714’, I used a brush to ombre the colours by applying the darker shade to the outside of the lips and the lighter in the middle, and then blending them together.

autumn inspired makeup look!

I can’t believe it’s November already, where has this year gone? It only feels like yesterday people were complaining about it being too hot, we were in mid June and everyone was wearing their coolest clothes drinking pimms! Now the leaves are falling, it’s getting bitterly cold and we’re all wrapping up in big coats and having hot chocolate! Saying that¬†I do love this time of year, yes for the cosy atmosphere but¬†mainly for the fashion.. autumn is a great excuse to throw on a blanket cape and a full face of autumny makeup! In spirit of this, I’ve decided to share one of my full makeup looks for this autumn; dark lips, orangey eyeshadows and blinding highlighter is all I’ll be wearing for the next month! (no change there then.. I’ll also put a list of all products used at the end of this post including the shades/prices!)

sophie

Now first things first it’s the eyebrows! Everyone has different routines to their makeup, mine happens to be eyes first and base after, but if you do it the other way round there’s nothing wrong with that! To shape mine in I use the Benefit Cosmetics ‘precisely my brow’ pencil and the ‘brow zings’ to fill them in with wax and the powder to set them. I then go in with my Urban Decay ‘naked skin concealer’ and outline my brows to define them even further (I’m a firm lover of strong shaped brows, but if you prefer a softer look then you do you!)

After the brows are looking well defined, I prime my eyelids by covering them brow to lash line with my ‘MAC sot ochre paint pot’ to get them ready for the eyeshadow, this also enables the eyeshadow to stay on and look fresher for longer.

Onto the eyeshadow! For this look I used the gorgeous ‘modern renaissance’ palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills and the ever stunning ‘naked heat palette from Urban Decay. I started with the ‘modern renaissance’ palette and the shade ‘warm taupe’ which I blended into and above my crease, making sure to blend the edges out well as this is the transition colour for the other shades. I then took the shade ‘realgar’ and blended this into my crease, taking it out towards the brow bone but not as far as I had taken the transition shade. After this, I took ‘red ochre’ and blended this right into the crease, only taking it¬†slightly above, as not to go as far as the previous shade. I then moved onto the ‘naked heat’ palette, I took shade ‘cayenne’ and blended this from the outer corner of my lid into the center, I then added a tiny bit of a mixture of the shades ‘en fuego’ and ‘ashes’ and blended this into the very outer corner to add some depth. I then dipped into ‘dirty talk’ and added this to the center of my lid and as for the inner part of the lid I used the shade ‘lumbre’ and blended this back into the center shade. To finish off the eyes I added the shades ‘red ochre’, ‘dirty talk’ and ‘lumbre’ to the lower lash line to complete the look!

Now for the base! I started by priming my face with my favourite e.l.f primer, then went straight in with the¬†best foundation in the world (in my eyes anyway) the Illamasqua ‘skin base’ and blended until it was flawless. After this I used the Urban Decay ‘naked skin’ concealer under my eyes (a little on my chin and forehead too) and the liquid blush to add some colour back into the apples of my cheeks. I then powered my entire face with the Rimmel translucent powder (I swear by that stuff). Time for contour! I always contour my cheeks, forehead, nose and jawline with the Kat Von D ‘shade and light’ palette, using the grey-toned shade ‘sombre’. After contour I took my Benefit Cosmetics ‘hoola’ bronzer and bronzed up the places that I had contoured to add some more colour back into my face. Next up my favourite part of any makeup look.. highlighter. My favourite highlighter palette at the moment is the Huda Beauty ‘3D highlighter palette – pink sands’ as you may have been able to tell from my October Favourites post! I added a mix of the colours ‘azores’ and ‘ibiza’ onto the high points of my face; cheekbones, nose and a little on the chin.

To finish off the look it was time for the two L’s.. lippy and lashes! For my lipstick I decided to go with ‘designer blood’ by Jeffree Star Cosmetics as it just complemented the eyeshadow too well! As for the eyelashes I used the wispy edition of my favourite brand Eyelure, I can’t get enough of that collection!

So there we have it, my super autumny full makeup look! I loved creating this look and I hope you liked it too! Look out for some more autumn/winter makeup looks coming your way!

Liebster Award

I’ve been debating the post I should add to my blog, and luckily I’ve had the decision made for me! The gorgeous Paige of ‘Little P Blog’ has nominated me for the Liebster Award which is so lovely of her, and you should¬†definitely¬†go and check out her blog!¬†Now at first glance I wasn’t quite sure what it was about, but after reading her post I’ve discovered it’s a brilliant way of discovering new blogs to follow, while telling everyone a little more about me in the process!

liebster

Paige has given me some questions to answer, so here they are!

how long have you been blogging for?

I have only been blogging for two months, so not long at all! Even so, I’ve really enjoyed writing and editing the posts I’ve put up so far so long may it continue!!

have you considered uploading to YouTube?

I can’t say I have, maybe something to think about in the future! Never say never!

what do you like to blog about most?

Not sure if anyone’s noticed, but I¬†love posting about beauty! Anything from makeup to skincare to bath bombs, you name it, I’ll blog about it! I think it’s mainly because that’s my industry, being a makeup artist, so I can’t help but be fascinated by it and want to share it with others!

where is your favourite place that you have traveled to?

Now that’s a hard question! I’ve been incredibly lucky with some of the locations I’ve been able to visit so it’s very hard to pick one, but keeping with the theme of this blog I’m going to have to say Milan. Clearly, the shopping capital of the world so I was going to adore it anyway, however this trip allowed me to find new love for products and brands I’d never heard of thanks to their MASSIVE Sephora! We’re not lucky enough to have a Sephora in the UK so shopping there was an absolute dream! Not only that, but the architecture was absolutely incredible. The ‘Duomo Di Milano’ was one of the most spectacular things I’ve ever seen, it is absolutely massive and so detailed, an amazing place to be able to visit! I’ve attached some pictures below (maybe I’ll do a separate blog post about it??)

what made you start to want blogging?

I started my blog because I had so many products that I absolutely love and wanted to tell others about them! I thought it’d be a good way to get that out there, whilst also being a good way to spend some of my free time!

what is the most frustrating thing about blogging?

I think one of the hardest things about blogging is knowing what to blog about! I have so many ideas for posts but it’s difficult knowing which ones will reach the audience I have in mind for this blog, so that can be quite frustrating sometimes!

favourite series to watch at the moment?

Definitely Stranger Things! I’ve just started to re-watch season one as I want to have a refresher so I can go into season two in the know! I’ve heard really good things about season two so I’m really looking forward to watching it!

what is your favourite Christmas tradition?

Bar far my favourite tradition is putting the angel decoration on the top of the Christmas tree. My siblings and I do it together every year and it’s the sweetest thing!

are you open about your blog? do you tell people you blog?

I don’t see the point of keeping the fact you blog from people, I put a lot of effort into my posts so I’d like as many people to see them as possible!

twitter or instagram?

Definitely instagram! I post nearly every day and it’s a great way to advertise myself and my business! I am on twitter as well but I prefer the layout of instagram for sure!

Now I’d like to nominate a few others for this award! They are:

A Reading Cat

The Beauty Swatcher

All Things Allatt

UniLifeTravel

Tales of Belle

If you’d like to join in, here are my questions for you!

  1. what made you start your blog?
  2. what’s your favourite thing about your blog?
  3. what’s the most important thing you’ve learned this year?
  4. what’s your favourite book?
  5. what’s your favourite scent of candle?
  6. what mainly inspires your blog posts?
  7. who inspires you the most?
  8. do you prefer giving or receiving presents?
  9. what is your favourite post on your blog?
  10. what is your favourite day of the year?

The rules:

If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award, and you choose to accept it, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:

Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to them on your blog.

Answer the questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.

Nominate blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers.

Halloween Skull Makeup

I am beyond excited for halloween this year so thought I’d share a quick little look inspired by all the skulls I’ve seen on Instagram this year!

This look is so quick and easy that anyone can give it a go! And what’s more, it doesn’t have to be the colours below, you can tailor them to your own vision, maybe a bright pink, a dark green, a royal purple?

File_002I first of all decided to leave my eyebrows natural for this look as it gives a softer, more smooth look to the face. I then started on the eyes and decided to go for a dark, golden smokey look. I began by blending a soft brown colour into and above my crease, then adding a darker brown through the crease and only blending out slightly, as not to cover up the light brown that I put there before. After this I blended the eyeshadow up the bridge of my nose and past my eyebrows to give a sunken in look, using first the light brown and then going over it with the darker brown. After the brown shadow, I lightly added black to the outer corner of my eyelids, blending out thoroughly with each application. After the black was blended thoroughly I added a golden shimmer shadow to the inside corner of the lid and blended out. Last step of the eyes had to then be lashes! (I used the eyelure pair NO.146)

File_000After the eyes, I moved onto the base. First of all I did my base like normal; foundation, concealer, blush, contour and highlight. After this I added two lines down my cheekbones and dragged the end down towards my chin to create the illusion of a sunken in face. I then blended the lines down to give depth to the cheeks, pressing the brush down lighter and lighter as I blended away from the original line.

After this, I drew a simple skeleton nose using black eyeliner to outline and fill in the shape, and then went over with black eyeshadow to set the liquid and make sure the eyeliner didn’t run! The mouth was very simple, I started by outlining the teeth lightly with black eyeshadow and then when I was happy with them went over the lines with black eyeliner. After the eyeliner had dried I went in with an opaque white eyeshadow to fill in the teeth, going over with a few layers to make sure the colour stands out. I then went over with a highlighter to add a shine to the teeth. I used the same highlighter to add a shine to my cheekbones above where I had drawn the sunken in lines.

File_003This was such a fun look to do and I’d suggest it for anyone looking to do a more glam take on a halloween favourite!!

Eyelash Haul! (not addicted, just dedicated)

Sooo.. I may have gone a bit overboard today in my quest to buy ONE nice pair of eyelashes.. and came back with five.. not my fault! They’re just too beautiful, and when they’re 1/2 price how can you resist??

All 2

Eyelure is definitely my all time favourite eyelash brand. They have such diverse styles so there’s always one appropriate for the look you’re after. Whether it’s a soft bridal look, a high fashion glam look or just a day to day pair, they’ve got it all. All their lashes are very lightweight and are able to be worn more than once, which is ideal seeing as I wear them every day of my life! As I don’t have to buy a pair for every day it allows me to save money (which I then admittedly spend on more lashes) HOWEVER, not the point. The point is: more wears = less money spent, and I consider that a win!

Allow me to share some of my favourite styles that I’m LOVING for the Autumn/Winter ’17 vibe!

No.107 – Volume

These lashes are just too adorable! They give off a subtle yet full look, paying homage to our vintage favs (aka Audrey Hepburn). They are SO lightweight making you feel up-market without weight you down! These are a must have in my kit as I am yet to find someone who doesn’t love them!

Volume 107

No.126 – Definition

A perfectly light pair of lashes with more flutter than a butterfly! These lashes not only make your eyelashes look longer, but are also very lengthening. Just as the name suggests, these lashes give your eyes a very defined and sleek look, flawless some may say.. a gorgeous pair of lashes that work with pretty much any look you desire to create!

Definition 126

No.149 – Exaggerate

These are my all time FAVOURITE lashes! They give my eyes such a dramatic shape and really structure the look that I create. These lashes are ‘double layered’ so they give twice the drama, which is perfect for someone like me that loves to make a statement. Saying this, they’re not too over-dramatic and can easily be worn on a day-to-day basis, as long as you’re not one for the very natural, ‘barely-there’ look. Due to the ‘double layered’ feature of these lashes their colour and structure is enhanced, giving the illusion of being more full and voluptuous! All I can say is these lashes will never be beaten for me!

Exaggerate 149

Enchanted After Dark ‘#mermaidsarecool’

I am such a fan of the different collections that Eyelure brings out, and the ‘Enchanted After Dark’ collection is definitely in my top rated! With the name #mermaidsarecool I’m going to go ahead an assume there’s a nod to a very famous red-haired mermaid somewhere in there.. a Princess close to my heart (hence why I had to have them).. this pair of lashes is very textured and gives a very full look to the eye. This collection is a ‘wispy edition’ so you can very well imagine each style of lash in this collection is definitely has a distinct wisp.. the wispiness (is that a word?.. we’ll go with it) of these lashes is definitely on the softer side. However, they are so soft and lightweight they allow you to flutter your lashes to your heart’s content!

Enchanted (mermaids are cool)

Enchanted After Dark ‘#shoesaremymuse’

Again, I’m just assuming here but I’m going with there being a distinct nod to a certain Princess who lost a glass slipper.. again another one of my favourites. These lashes definitely give the eyes more of a delicate look, as soon as I put them on I found myself fluttering away at anyone who decided to come within a five feet radius.. they immediately made me feel one hundred times more elegant, and again have a very lightweight feel. They have a delicate flare at the end of each lash which really opens up the eye and gives a beautiful structure.

Enchanted (shoes are my muse)

As I said, not an addiction, just dedicated..
