My Top 3 Palettes for Spring/Summer! (Review and Swatches)

Hi beauties!

Spring is well and truly underway now in the UK, there’s still the odd shower or two but we’ve had some beautiful sunny days! In light of this I thought I’d write a post on the top five palette’s I’ll be using in the upcoming spring/summer months! Let’s get into it..

First up is the Huda Beauty ‘warm brown obsessions’ palette. This palette is small but mighty! I am absolutely loving the ‘obsessions’ collection from Huda Beauty as these palettes are perfect for any makeup lovers kit; just the right size not to take up too much space but amazingly pigmented with a whopping nine colours! This palette is ideal for those makeup lovers whos makeup bags are already bursting at the seams but keen to try the eyeshadow formula that the whole community is raving about! This very warm toned palette is so versatile and I find myself using it for nearly every eyeshadow look I do. The pigment of these shadows is amazing, one dip in the pan and the brush is covered in soft, blend-able colour – a must have for spring/summer looks! The palette contains one foil-effect gold shadow surrounded by eight stunning mattes making for an incredibly versatile burgundy and neutral toned palette. Turns out good things definitely do come in small packages! (I’d also suggest checking out the other palettes in the ‘obsessions’ collection too, there are so many cute colour combinations that will melt your heart!)

Next let’s talk about the Sigma ‘creme de couture’ palette.. my oh my, this is one beautiful palette! There is such an amazing range of stunning colours that just speak to my soul. This palette screams spring/summer from the gorgeous pastel colours to the eye-catching bright shades, there is something in this palette for everyone. The shades are extremely pigmented and blend like butter, something I love about this eyeshadow formula is that as you blend the shadows the colour does not fade away and become more translucent as is very common with bright shades. The shadows give a lovely matte finish with amazing colour payoff, everything you could ask for from a vibrant, colourful palette. This palette allows you to create so many versatile looks and tailor them to any outfit you decide to wear this summer.. no matter the colours! This is a palette available to enjoy by anyone, from the soft pastel ‘cherry blossom’ and ‘blue chocolat’ shades to the bright and bold ‘redberry rose and ‘cassis’ there is a shade in this palette for everyone!

Last, but certainly not least, is the Morphe Brushes ’35O2′ palette. This has to be one of my all time favourite palette purchases. I have been such a big fan of Morphe for many years now and own five of their eyeshadow palettes (I know, only five?!) Their eyeshadow formulas are so pigmented and both their matte and shimmer formulas are always of such high quality and never let me down. This palette in particular is perfect for spring/summer as the shade range is on point (I mean that red shade.. that’s perfection), all the shades are very warm toned and as there are 35 to choose from the ability to create gorgeous fades and un-clockable blends is second to none – this is down to the incredible textures of the shadows and also how versatile yet coherent the shade range is! A definite must have palette for those warm, summery looks.. I think I’m so drawn to this palette as I am really into wearing bright reds this year and this palette is perfect for creating the right eyeshadow look to compliment my red outfit choice!

So there we have it, my top 3 palettes for the spring/summer. All three palettes are so versatile and you can create any desired look to suit any outfit choice! They’re also amazing for people just starting out in makeup who need a few staples to get them underway! Let me know what your favourite palette is below! Until next time beauties..

Pink Makeup Look/Walkthrough ūüĆļ

Hello Beauties! I was going to say that spring is around the corner so we should all get excited and crack out every piece of pastel clothing and makeup we can find, but with this miserable weather in the UK it couldn’t feel any further away.. nonetheless, let’s get in the mood with this cute pink makeup look that you can all rock when the spring season finally decides to come around! This bright liner and lipstick combo is all I’ll be wearing for the spring/summer, so let’s dive in and see how it’s achieved! I’ll list a full description of products used at the end of this blog post and where you can purchase them!

The first step of my makeup routine is skincare, if you don’t have a good skin base to work with then you’re not going to be able to fully achieve the look that you want to get out of your makeup. Because of this, I always start with a few pumps of Bare Minerals ‘Skinlongevity’ serum. This serum is perfect as it is made for all skin types and works to protect the skin against environmental stressors as it’s packed full of antioxidants. It’s powered by long life herb so is constantly working to help the skin look and feel young and healthy. I take a few pumps into the palm of my hand an gently press it into the face, immediately you can feel the hydration on your skin and you’re all prepped to start your routine.

First things first, primer! To go with my skincare I use the Bare Minerals ‘Good Hydrations’ primer, can you tell my skin’s a little dry at the moment? This primer is perfect because it preps my skin by smoothing out any pores thanks to the coconut alkanes therefore giving me a great base which allows my foundation to glide on flawlessly (you can find my review on both the new primers launched here!) If you’ve been following my blog for a while you’ll know my all time favourite foundation is the Illamasqua ‘Skin Base’, this formula is so easy to apply and so flawless looking (due to it being quite full coverage) so it’s my absolute go-to when it comes to my base (you can find my full review here!) After applying my foundation with my favourite Marc Jacobs ‘The Face II Sculpting’ brush, I like to go in with the Benefit Cosmetics ‘Boi-ing’ concealer under the eyes. I use my ring finger, as this is the most delicate and gentle, to place the concealer carefully under my eyes, in the centre of my forehead and chin and then over any imperfections that might be invading my face that day. Once these steps are done, I set my base with the loose powder from Rimmel, it’s a drug-store brand so people who like more high-end makeup tend to stay away from brands like this, but this is honestly the best loose setting powder I have come across. It is very finely milled and still gives the skin the flawless look that I am trying to achieve.

So now our base is done, we move onto eyes! I fill in (and basically reshape) my eyebrows first with the Benefit ‘Precisely My Brow’ pencil and then with the ‘Brow Zings’ wax and powder. Once my brows are on and looking pretty much the same (they’re sisters, not twins!) I prime my eyelids with the Mac Cosmetics ‘paint pot’ in soft ochre. I then set this with the loose powder from before. For this pink look, I decided the Sigma Beauty ‘Creme de Couture’ palette would be perfect as it’s a gorgeous selection of, very pigmented, bright matte colours. First I look the shade cherry blossom on a big fluffy blender brush and blended this through the crease, taking it slightly above the crease but not all the way to the brow bone. I then look the shade redberry rose and did the same, however not bringing it up as far as I did the first shade in order to give an effortlessly blended effect. I then took redberry rose down onto the outer corner of the lid and blended it towards the centre of the lid. After this, I took my paint pot and half cut my crease, making sure to blend it out at the centre into the redberry rose shade for an easier blend later on. I next grabbed my Too Faced ‘sweet peach’ eyeshadow palette and selected the shade bellini to go over where I had cut the crease, I used a packer eyeshadow brush to pop this onto where I cut the crease and blended it into the redberry rose colour already there. I then grabbed by Jeffree Star Cosmetics liquid lipstick in the shade ‘Masochist’ and used a liner brush to create a bright pink winged liner. If you’re going to do the same and use a pink lipstick then please make sure to double check it is eye safe before applying it near the eye area. And there we go, eye makeup complete!

After the eye makeup is complete I go back in and finish my base by enhancing what’s already there with a bit of colour. I went straight for my trusty Juvia’s Place blush palette and added some colour to the apples of my cheeks. I then took the Bare Minerals ‘warmth’ all over face colour to warm up my complexion, blending this into my forehead, cheekbones, jawline and then using whatever is left on the brush to buff into the rest of my foundation to slightly warm up the face all over. I then took my favourite highlighting palette by Huda Beauty the ‘pink sands edition’ and made those cheekbones blinding!

Lastly, onto my two favourite L’s.. lippy and lashes! I used the Eyelure lashes in No.126 to really make the eye makeup standout. No surprises here, the lipstick is a combo of Jeffree Star Cosmetics ‘Masochist’ and ‘714’, I used a brush to ombre the colours by applying the darker shade to the outside of the lips and the lighter in the middle, and then blending them together.

new ‘Bare Minerals’ launch review!

Hi everyone! I am beyond excited to share with you the new products Bare Minerals have launched this month. Since starting to work for the brand I have discovered so many products that are capturing my heart, and the new launch isn’t any different! Bare Minerals are powered by nourishing, skin-loving minerals and their aim is to create products with purity in mind. This month they have released all new primers and concealers, so let’s dive right in..

First up are the new ‘BarePro 16-Hour Full Coverage Concealers’. The texture of the concealers is incredibly creamy and glides onto the skin with ease. Not only this, but the pigment is amazing! One swipe coverage is definitely the case here, I love products that this is true for as not only does it make application easier but it also means the product will last longer, and therefore saves you money! I have been wearing this concealer for the past two weeks and it’s safe to say the ’16-Hour wear’ is definitely accurate. The concealers contain Kaolin clay which allows them to have such a strong hold by absorbing excess oils, without using any harsh chemicals. The formula is also waterproof, sweat-resistant, smudge-proof, humidity AND transfer resistant, pretty impressive right? The formula also contains bamboo stem extract to naturally blur and smooth out pores and fine lines, as well as containing antioxidant rich raspberry-seed oil, blackcurrant-seed oil and sea lavender to nourish the skin and keep your under-eyes looking healthy and fresh. These ingredients also help to protect the skin from the damaging effects of environmental stresses (like pollution).¬† These concealers are also vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free, so they are very available to a wide audience! Love, love, love them!

Next up, the two new primers! I have definitely found a new staple in my kit in the shape of the new ‘Good Hydrations Silky Face Primer’. This primer is an absolute dream, as the name suggests it is¬†so hydrating! As soon as it hits the skin the face immediately feels smooth and nourished. The texture of the primer is incredibly silky and dries with a soft-focus effect that leaves the skin with a beautifully radiant finish. Because the primer is so silky it really helps to smooth out any dry or flaky skin, therefore allowing your makeup to glide onto the skin with absolute ease and helps the makeup stay on for a significant amount of time longer than it naturally would. This primer is formulated for normal to dry skin.

20180228_172022631_iOS

The other primer that has been released is for combination skin, it is the ‘Combo Control Milky Face Primer’. This primer has been formulated to gently restore the balance of combination skin. Combination skin occurs when there is an imbalance of oil and water in the skin, normally when there is an excess of both. The primer uses smart hydration techniques to bring back a healthy balance, it maintains the skins natural moisture balance whilst absorbing oil in the key areas of the face (e.g. the ‘T-Zone’). This primer feels so lovely on the skin, it is so soft and has such a natural finish. It is powered by African tree bark extract and mineral silica to absorb the excess oils in a natural way and to blur the appearance of pores while smoothing the skin. This is a beautiful primer that gives your makeup such a natural, flawless look whilst also enhancing and protecting the skin.

So there we have it, the new launch review! I would highly recommend grabbing these products for your collection, they have made such a difference to my makeup routine. Not only do they do exactly what they claim to but they also make my routine a lot easier and my skin feels amazing!

Until next time beauties!

my favourite ‘Lush’ products! (pt.4)

Hi Everyone! I can’t believe I haven’t posted in over a month, I’ve been so busy settling into my new job for Bare Minerals I just haven’t had any time to sit down and actually write! Anyway, now I’m all settled and ready to chat all things Lush!

“Over and Over” (bath bomb)

20180104_164116490_iOS
£4.50

“just roll with it”¬†– I’ve literally used three of these bath bombs in the past two weeks, they are so moreish! This product contains both lime and fennel oil, so as soon as it hits the water a gorgeous citrus scent fills your bathroom. The scent is not too overpowering and I found it to be a perfect balance of all the fragrances. The orange on the outside of the bath bomb is a coating of cocoa butter, I know! amazing right? The cocoa butter is there to nourish, moisturise and leaves the skin feeling so soft and cared for. Not only are the ingredients amazing, the colours are mesmirising. As it begins to dissolve the oranges and yellows become so vibrant and melt into the softest, fluffiest foam. THEN, pink bubbles just come at you out of nowhere! There is pink melt inside the bath bomb which creates the most perfect colour combination and makes your bath look like a full on sunset, beautiful. I was so impressed at the way this product made my skin feel, and like the name suggests, I have been using it ‘over and over’!

“Sex Bomb” (bath bomb)

20180106_165901045_iOS
£3.75

“this bomb’s made for lovin'”¬†– it sure is! I’ve been using this bath bomb for as long as I can remember, it may even be the first one I purchased from Lush all those years ago! This is the perfect bath bomb for when you’re stressed out and feeling a bit anxious, it contains jasmine, ylang ylang and sage oil for maximum relaxation. Ylang ylang oil is known for its qualities to soothe the mind and body, which makes it a perfect ingredient for this bath bomb. When dropped into the bath, the most gorgeous pinks and purples start oozing out and to top it all off, the cute rose on the top expands and the petals start to float around the bath! This bath bomb screams romance, from the beautiful jasmine scent to the beautiful pink tones and it even brings you flowers! Who said romance is dead?!

“Mint Julips” (lip scrub)

“scrub and soften”¬†– I have been after a good quality lip scrub for so long, and safe to say I’ve finally found it! This lip scrub first caught my eye because I love all things minty, this lip scrub has a gorgeous blend of peppermint oil ans vanilla extract so tastes exactly like mint humbugs! The best part? It’s edible! Because Lush is vegan, once you’ve rubbed these delicious sugar crystals all over your lips and they’re feeling soft and nourished, you can just eat what’s left! This scrub leaves me feeling refreshed and guarantees me peace of mind when it comes to having cracked or chipped lips, especially as I wear long lasting lipsticks pretty much every day. Using this scrub has now become part of my daily beauty routine; once in the morning when completing my skin care routine and once in the evening when I’m cleansing away all that makeup (and maybe once or twice more when applying lippy throughout the day, it just tastes too good)!

So there we have it guys, three more of my absolute favs from this gorgeous brand! I already can’t wait for the next post, stay tuned for more Lush goodies my lovlies!

Until next time!

Sanctuary Spa “foaming micellar cleansing water” – my new fav!

Welcome back lovelies!

Now, I love a good micellar water to cleanse the skin and help take my makeup off before completing my nightly skin routine. Saying that, I’ve never found one that’s able to take my makeup off without either leaving a lot of the product still on the skin or leaving an oily residue behind. BUT..¬†oh, my, goodness.¬†I received the Sanctuary Spa ‘foaming micellar cleansing water’ for Christmas and it’s completely changed my thoughts on micellar waters.

Let’s start off talking a bit about the brand.. the Sanctuary Spa body and skin care range was first launched in 1988, 11 years after the original spa opened in Covent Garden in 1977. They are a very affordable skincare brand that aims to put out high-quality products. The micellar water retails for ¬£8.00 in the UK (you can get it from Boots). What I appreciate the most is that the brand is entirely cruelty free and this is something they feel strongly about, most of their products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans with the exception of the use of beeswax in some products. Luckily, this product¬†is suitable for vegans!

Now onto the product itself.. I was very intrigued when I received it as I had never used a foam cleanser of any type before. The product comes in a clear 200ml bottle with a pump mechanism to generate the ‘foam’ texture, it is nice sleek packaging and looks very sophisticated. The product promises to be¬†“super gentle but incredibly effective at removing makeup and daily grime, skin is left feeling instantly clean, fresh and soothed”.

Now this is, in my opinion, definitely true! When you press down on the pump a generous amount of foam comes out. The product remains as foam until it is either pressed to the skin or rubbed between the cotton pad (or whatever you decide to take your makeup off with). As soon as the product hits the skin it feels as though it dissolves from the foam into water, it has a very soft feel. Just as the description states the water feels so refreshing on the skin and definitely feels soothing without leaving traces of oil.

I can honestly say this micellar water removes ninety nine percent of the makeup on my face (and I wear¬†a lot) with complete ease! As soon as the product hit my skin it began dissolving the makeup immediately. As it is so effective I was expecting a harshness to the product, but even though it is very effective it is still extremely gentle and soothing on the skin. I’ve been using this product every day since I got my hands on it and I can’t see myself giving it up anytime soon!

The only thing I would say advice-wise is that the foam directly on the lids can be a bit uncomfortable. I tend to rub the foam in between two cotton pads so the foam dissolves and then apply it to the eyes. Saying this, as soon as the water is applied it dissolves my eye makeup flawlessly, even waterproof products!

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone and everyone looking for a new makeup remover. It’s soft, gentle and works brilliantly! It’s super effective and leaves the skin feeling refreshed and nourished.

It’s definitely going to be hard for me to replace this as my favourite makeup remover, especially for the ¬£8.00 price point for such an amazing product!

I hope you enjoyed this review and it’s inspired you to try out this product, it’s definitely worth it!

Until next time! x

a few of my fav pink lippys!

Welcome back my lovelies! (Or hello to anyone who’s just discovered my blog!)

So I did a poll on my Instagram (linked here if you fancy a follow!) on what blog post you guys would like to see next and it was a close call between my new favourite makeup remover and a post on pink lippys, but the pink lippys just took it! So here we go..

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Doll Parts

Now inevitably there’s going to be¬†at least one Jeffree Star lipstick when I’m reviewing lipsticks, so we may as well start off there! The first one I want to talk about is ‘Doll Parts’. It is the most gorgeous cool toned pink liquid lipstick, the colour gives me complete Mean Girls vibes every time I see it. The formula goes on opaque, dries down completely matte and lasts for hours! The coverage with only one swipe of the wand is unbelievable, you really don’t need a lot of product for a full coverage lip so they last a substantial amount of time saving you money! Something I love about this colour is that it is so versatile, it works on any skin tone and is just so wearable. This shade of pink can be easily worn on a day to day basis and is one hundred percent a staple in my kit.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Prom Night

The next (and last) Jeffree Star lippy I want to talk about is ‘Prom Night’. It is a¬†beautiful¬†bright matte pink shade which is definitely not for the faint hearted! Just like the other matte liquid lips in the collection, this one also goes on opaque and dries down to a matte. ‘Prom Night’ brings such a gorgeous burst of colour to a makeup look and all eyes go straight for it! Even though the formula dries down matte it is still very hydrating and doesn’t leave my lips feeling dry or cracked. If you already do or you’re thinking about wearing brighter coloured lipstick this shade is definitely a great place to start, it’s a stunning colour that’ll make you feel powerful.

Ted Baker – Treasured Treats

The next lippy is one from the brand Ted Baker. This brand isn’t necessarily known for their makeup products but these lippys are so beautiful, they’re a must have! Not only is the colour stunning, but the packaging and all round aesthetic of this lippy is beautiful. The lipstick itself has a ‘T’ etched into the top and I’m so here for it. This specific shade is a beautiful light pink shade that reminds me a lot of candyfloss, it’s glossy and gorgeous! The formula of this lipstick is very creamy and feels amazing on the lips. These lipsticks are so hydrating and pigmented, the colour payoff is brilliant. I mentioned this in my ‘red lipsticks‘ post, the only thing that baffles me about these lipsticks is the fact they don’t have individual names, when buying a lipstick I like to be able to find out what that specific colour is called. Regardless of the name fiasco, these lipsticks are definitely worth a try. Not only are they beautiful to look at but the colour is also beautiful.

Huda Beauty – Gossip Gurl

The next pink lippy is by the brand Huda Beauty and it’s called ‘Gossip Gurl’. I’d describe this colour as a very cute and bold pink colour, but don’t take bold in the wrong way! What I mean by that is it’s a very classic pink and is very wearable, I have tried it on a lot of skin tones and it seems to suit everyone! Something I love about the Huda liquid mattes is that they’re so comfortable to wear, the formula dries down completely matte but still feels extremely hydrating and doesn’t dry out the lips at all. Saying this, they also last all day without the need to reapply, something that is hard to perfect when the formula is so hydrating! The packaging is also so cute, the frosty looking glass just looks so sophisticated and is enough to draw anybody in! This lipstick is a definite must have!

Maybelline – 157, More to Adore

Another pink lippy I love is from Maybelline. It is shade no.157 ‘More to Adore’ from their ‘coloursensational’ range. This formula is¬†sooo incredibly creamy, it feels like an absolute dream on the lips. It is so hydrating and nourishing, because of this it is not a heavy formula and doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any product which is refreshing. Not only this, but the formula is nicely pigmented which means the colour payoff is definitely worth trying. This shade is a light baby pink that looks pretty glossy. The shade is very versatile but is more suited to people with lighter skin tones as, though the formula is pigmented, it is more sheer than some of the other brands’ lipsticks above. If you like a more subtle pink lipstick I’d definitely suggest giving this one a go!

Rimmel – Kate Moss, 101

The last lippy I want to talk about is from Rimmel. It is one of the shades from their ‘lasting finish’ collaboration with Kate Moss and is shade no.101. It is a very light pink shade, probably the lightest pink shade I own, but nonetheless is very beautiful. This is a perfect shade for people who like wearing lipstick but don’t want to wear anything heavy or with lots of colour. The feel of the formula is very lightweight and hydrating and it says on for a decent amount of time. Application is so easy as it just glides across the lips. I’d definitely recommend trying out this lippy and adding it to your collection because the formula is amazing, especially for the price point!

So there we have it! I hope you enjoyed reading this post and that it was a helpful insight into some of my favourite pink lipsticks! what are some of your favs? let me know!

Until next time lovelies.. x

Juvia’s Place ‘Saharan Blush Vol.II’ Palette – review and swatches!

I know what you’re thinking.. Sophie, another Juvia’s Place review?! This brand is just too irresistible! I’ve finally got my hands on the ‘Saharan II Blush’ palette, one I’ve had my eye on for a while now. Juvia’s did come out with a volume I of their blush palette but upon seeing the range of shades in the promo pics I wasn’t convinced they would look great on my skin tone as I have pretty fair skin. So, when the promos were released for the volume II palette I was¬†soooo happy. Right, let’s dive into this review!

juvias-saharan-ii-32.jpg

If you’ve read my other Juvia’s reviews (you can get to them here and here), you’ll know that I love this brand. One of the main reasons I think their products are so great is the fact they are¬†extremely pigmented. One swipe in the pan and your brush is covered in product! I love pigmented products because not only are they easier to work with but they also last a lot longer meaning you’re getting good value for your money. Speaking of money, the blush palette retails in the UK for ¬£20 (you can get it from beautybay.com). I think this is a decent price for what you get, there are six shades in the palette, four matte and two metallic, and as I mentioned previously they are¬†very pigmented! I also love this price point as the palette is very diverse, not only can you use it as blush but you can also use the shades as eyeshadow or even as highlight.

juvias saharan II 4

The colour selection in the palette is absolutely beautiful. As I mentioned there are four matte shades and two metallic shades. Now, usually when swatching new products I find that there is a least one shade I struggle with, but I am happy to announce all six shades swatched like an absolute dream! The formula of these blushes is so creamy and easy to blend on the skin.

juvias saharan II
left to right: zoba, bee and yara

‘Yara’ –¬†a light brown matte shade with subtle orange undertones, I mainly use this shade as an eyeshadow colour in my crease when doing darker, smokier looks.

‘Bee’ –¬†a matte cool pink-toned/mauve shade, I really like this shade for a lid colour.

‘Zoba’ –¬†a metallic light pink shade with a gold duo chrome effect, this is my favourite shade in the palette to use as a highlight, both on my cheeks and in my inner corner to complete any eyeshadow look.

juvias saharan II 5
left to right: tau, leena and sola

‘Sola’ –¬†a metallic rose toned pink shade again with a gold duo chrome effect similar to ‘Zoba’, I like this shade more as eyeshadow than blush as I think it is slightly too dark for my skin tone unless I’m more tanned.

‘Leena’ –¬†a matte coral tones pink shade, definitely my favourite and most used in the palette. I love this colour as it goes incredibly well with my skin tone and gives my cheeks the exact pop of colour that I adore.

‘Tau’ –¬†a matte bright peachy orange toned shade that again I love using on the apples of my cheeks. It is significantly darker than ‘Leena’ but I enjoy mixing the two shades together to create my own custom blush shade!

I have been using the palette non-stop ever since I got my hands on it. The high-quality of these formulas keeps me coming back for more and is going to make it¬†verrry difficult for me to find another blush formula on par with this one. If you don’t really wear blush and are thinking of trying it out, or if you already do and want to try something new and switch up your normal routine, I would one hundred percent recommend this palette as a place to start! All in all, as you can probably tell, I love this palette and it’s definitely won me over! What are some of your favourite blushes?

Until next time lovelies!

six cruelty free makeup brands and why I love them

For today’s post I wanted to share some of my top makeup brands that are cruelty free. I appreciate so much when a brand makes the decision to go cruelty free because as well as the obvious advantages it also opens the brand to a wider community. Let’s get into it!

Unsurprisingly, first and foremost we¬†have to talk about Jeffree Star Cosmetics. This brand is my¬†all time favourite¬†brand of makeup. I wear their ‘velour liquid lipsticks’ every single day without fail. They are the creamiest, most pigmented, stunning lipsticks I have ever come across. Not only is the formula AH-MA-ZING, the range of colours is absolutely unreal! Every shade you could ever want; nudes, reds, pinks and even yellow and greens! My top lippy choices are; ‘red rum’, ‘gemini’, ‘prom night’, ‘mannequin’ and new from the Christmas collection ‘santa baby’. Anyone who hasn’t ever tried this brand NEEDS to.. they’re also vegan so really there’s no reason not to..

Anastasia Beverley Hills is one of my all time¬†favourite¬†brands. They’re eyeshadows are some of the best, I’ve currently got two of their palettes (Modern Renaissance and Prism – I’m feeling a review coming soon..!) and I can’t get enough of them! The formulas are so buttery and¬†soo pigmented, exactly what I look for in eyeshadow. They have a wide range of other products as well including the extremely popular ‘dipbrow promenade’. ‘Dipbrow’ is so many people’s ‘go to’ when it comes to eyebrows and they come in such a big selection of colours with 11 shades in total, so there’s a shade to suit for everyone! I am so happy they are cruelty free as I couldn’t go without them in my kit!

The main reason this brand is in my list is because Illamasqua‘s skin base is my number one foundation, I wear it all day every day. It is a full to medium coverage which is my preference in a foundation, along with this it leaves my skin feeling light and soft which I don’t normally find with more full coverage foundations. It really gives my skin a gorgeous natural glow which lasts¬†allll day! The formula is so easy to blend into the skin and a little really goes a long way meaning the foundation lasts you a good while, hence saving money which is what I’m all about at the moment. Illamasqua have so many other great products but this is, in my opinion, by far the best and I’m so glad they’re cruelty free.

Too Faced might honestly be the cutest brand on earth when it comes to packaging and scents. I am¬†obsessed with anything peach, so when they brought out an¬†ENTIRE RANGE of peach based products I didn’t know what to do with myself. I recently reviewed the ‘sweet peach eyeshadow palette’ and I absolute love it. I also have the ‘chocolate bar eyeshadow palette’ and the formulas are¬†toooo good. Their eyeshadows blend out like butter.. and don’t even start me on the pigment, one dip in the pan and the brush is coated! Saying this, I still think the best thing about the brand is the unique scents linked with their products. The chocolate range honestly smells like a sweet chocolate dream and the peach range is the cutest, juiciest smelling peach scent you’ve ever smelt. Not only this, but their ‘better than sex’ mascara has been rated in many polls as the number one cruelty free mascara available in the UK, and to be fair.. it’s absolutely amazing. It adds length, volume and is a very pigmented black, love, love, love!

I’ve always had a huge love for Urban Decay. This brand has cracked the code on the perfect eyeshadow formula; they are insanely pigmented, easy to blend, buttery in the pan and the colour schemes in each palette they have introduced are genius. Their ‘Naked’ palette range is a well-known favourite in and outside of the beauty community, the range is so versatile meaning there is something for anyone and everyone. My number one product I cannot be without from Urban is the ‘heavy metal glitter liner’ in ‘midnight cowboy’. It is packaged like a liquid liner so has a very fine tip which is perfect for applying the liner in the crease and along the lash like, the glitter shows up so vividly and just adds that extra¬†oomphh to any eye look you create. Most of the Urban products are also vegan which I really appreciate, not necessarily because I practice veganism myself, but because it means the brand is accessible to a wider community.

The last brand I want to touch on is the infamous Jouer Cosmetics, this brand has really built itself up from being less well-known to an absolute empire. I am¬†so glad that they are cruelty free as their ‘long wear lip toppers’ are really something else. They add the most gorgeous finish over any lip colour; be it liquid lip, normal lipstick, a lip tint or just your natural lip colour, the toppers add that little extra summin summin.. one of my favourite combos is to take Jeffree Star Cosmetic’s ‘red rum’ liquid lipstick and put the ‘skinny dip’ lip topper over for a little extra glam. Another stunning product from Jouer are their ‘powder highlighters’, they are so pigmented and bring that blinding glow to the face that I strive for, my favourite shade is ‘rose quartz’ which is a gorgeous soft champagne pink. For anyone that hasn’t tried this brand I’d definitely recommend getting your hands on one of their products and giving it a go!

Anastasia Beverley Hills ‘Prism’ Eyeshadow Palette – review and swatches!

Hello my lovlies and happy new year! Today I bring you a review¬†and swatches of the ‘Prism’ eyeshadow palette from ABH.

When this palette first dropped in the UK and I saw the shade selection I¬†knew I just¬†had to have it. The palette’s packaging is just so pretty, the gorgeous velvet-like casing with the gold detail is enough to draw anyone in, it’s velvety texture is similar to the casing on both of their previous eyeshadow palettes. This palette contains 14 shades in total, 7 matte shades and 7 metallic shades. The palette also comes with one classic ABH double ended eyeshadow brush, just like the previous palettes. Whilst swatching the palette I found the formulas, both matte and metallic, to be very pigmented with a silk-like feel. The only two shades which I found to be slightly less pigmented were ‘sphere’ and ‘obsidian’ which are two of the matte formulas. I found this slightly odd as usually if there is inconsistency in formulas they tend to be both either light or dark shades, whereas these two are a light yellow and a pitch black. Speaking of the shades, let’s get into the swatches!

prism 10
left to right: lucid, eden, unity, dimension and parallel

‘lucid’ is a duo chrome colour which I’m in love with, it’s a white gold colour with pink reflects, perfect for that brow and inner corner highlight.

‘eden’ is a matte coral pink colour, it goes gorgeously in the crease for a cute pink smokey eye.

‘unity’¬†is a matte ochre shade, a twist on a classic nude colour as it’s just that bit more yellow toned.

‘dimension’¬†is another beautiful duo chrome shade that I can’t get enough of, it is a silver grey with pink reflects.

‘parallel’¬† is a matte brown truffle colour great for those who like a darker smokey eye without having to go as dark as black.

prism 4
left to right: pyramid, throne, saturn and eternal

‘pyramid’¬†is a bright metallic yellow gold colour with subtle green reflects, perfect to put on the lid to add a bit of gold glamour.

‘throne’¬†is one of my favorite shades, it is a blackened green colour with multi-coloured relfects.

‘saturn’¬†is another matte shade, it is a beautiful terracotta nude perfect for tucking in the crease.

‘eternal’¬†is a gorgeous copper metallic shade with a hint of violet, I really like the warmth of this shade.

prism 8
left to right: sphinx, osiris, sphere, obsidian and lure

‘sphinx’¬†is a very warm metallic bronze shade that is very similar but slightly darker than eternal.

‘osiris’ is a stunning colour, it is a metallic violet colour with red reflects which I think is a very unique combination!

‘sphere’¬†is a matte electric green yellow colour, this is the one I struggled with when it came to swatching because of the pigmentation. However, when layered and the pigment becomes more opaque it is a gorgeous bright colour!

‘obsidian’¬†is the darkest shade in the palette, it is a deep matte black, perfect for those gorgeous smokey eyes.

‘lure’¬†is definitely my most used shade, it is a a soft matte lilac colour and I am in love with it. I find it goes so well with so many looks and I can’t get enough.

Hands down this palette is absolutely stunning. From the sleek packaging to the gorgeous array of shades, ABH have totally smashed this palette (with a little exception when it comes to the pigmentation on a couple of the shades). If you don’t own the prism palette I would definitely suggest adding it to your collection, the colours are very unique and is such a pretty palette. You can create so many individual looks with this palette and I for sure use it all the time..

Until next time loves!.. x

my favourite ‘Lush’ products! (pt.3)

Yes that’s right it’s part three¬†of my favourite Lush products, I just can’t get enough! And with Christmas round the corner you can be sure they’ll be a festive Lush haul coming soon! But for now, let’s dive into part three!

“Rocket Science” (bath bomb)

rocket science
£2.95

“5..4..3..2..1..”¬†– blast off! This adorable little bath bomb will make you want to take off into outer space, and what’s more it’s only ¬£2.95!! This little rocket is a ‘slow fizzer’ which means it takes slightly longer than normal to dissolve, however, that just means you can stare at it’s beauty for as long as you like. As it begins to dissolve the yellow foam (acting as the ‘fire’) pushes the rocket along the water, releasing the most fragrant citrus scent thanks to the Sicilian lemon oil and bergamot oil. These scents are designed to uplift and cleanse the skin and that’s exactly what they do. Another thing I love about this product is that it’s perfect as some light entertainment for the children, because Lush are vegan there is no doubt their products are safe for the kiddies skin, making bath time even more fun (or just as a good bribe to get them in the tub!) This rocket actually reminds me of a smaller, cheaper intergalactic! It leaves your skin soft and silky with little to no residue left behind, whilst its scent calms and relaxes, a definite must try, especially for the price!

Avobath (bath bomb)

avobath
£3.50

“bath time superfood” – well, that’s what you get when there’s fresh avocado in your bath! That’s right, this bath bomb contains¬†actual¬†avocado.. along with some olive oil and lemongrass of course.. so really you’re bathing in your own super smoothie! As it begins to dissolve the avobath releases a beautiful softness allowing your skin to soak up the nourishment and moisturising goodness, hydrating your skin while the refreshing scents focus your mind. When completely dissolved the avobath turns the water a beautiful ‘granny smith apple’ green, and the scent stays on your skin for a long while after you leave the tub! A definite must if you’re in need of some proper relaxation and rejuvenation, so go on¬†‘avobath’!!

Intergalactic (bath bomb)

interglactic
£4.50

“blast off into funky”¬†– about right! This is by far the funkiest bath bomb I’ve got my hands on, the colours that erupt when it hits the water are absolutely magical! As it dissolves your tub becomes your own little galaxy with the brightest blues, pinks, yellows, purples.. and of course my favourite part, a¬†LOT¬†of glitter. As if the stunning visual wasn’t enough, the scent is absolutely divine.. a burst of fresh peppermint, grapefruit and cederwood oil take you ‘far far away’ and revitalise your senses, leaving you feeling refreshed and uplifted. And if that doesn’t convince you, they’ve thrown in an extra little treat in the form of some popping candy to really make you feel like you’re travelling through deep space! If I were you, I’d get my hand on this spacey wonderfulness!

That’s all for this part folks! But have no fear, like I said earlier I’ve got my eye on those Christmassy goodies so stay tuned for a post focused entirely on them! In the mean time, why not go out and give these a try?
